Reiki is universal life force energy.

It is the energy that runs through all living beings and is the infinite energy of the Universe. Rei = universal Ki = energy of life force.

Reiki as a healing system that originated in Japan from founder Mikao Usui. It is based on the belief that universal life force energy flows through all living beings. When this life force energy is blocked, low or out of balance, it can cause physical, mental, emotional and spiritual imbalance or illness. Reiki helps to restore this energy flow and support the body's innate ability to heal.

The Reiki practitioner acts as a channel or conduit, allowing the universal life force energy to flow through them and into the recipient through the laying of hands on the body or through distance healing.

In this course you will be learning Traditional Usui Reiki. This is the original Reiki system and is the most widely practiced.

One of the beautiful things about Reiki is that anyone can learn it. Reiki is passed on from Reiki Master to student via attunements. The attunement process allows you to connect with Reiki energy. There is different attunements passed on in the different levels of Reiki. All that you need to be able to receive an attunement is to be open and willing.

After completing Reiki Level 1, you can use Reiki for self-healing and offer it to family, friends, and pets. To practice Reiki professionally, you’ll need to complete Reiki Level 2, which requires Level 1 as a prerequisite.

No, you don’t need to become a practitioner if you learn Reiki. Many people learn Reiki purely for self-healing, personal and spiritual growth, and supporting loved ones. Reiki Level 1 is especially focused on self-practice, helping you balance your energy, self-heal, connect to self and deepen your intuition.

If you do feel called to share Reiki with others, you can choose to continue to Level 2, which allows you to practice professionally. However, there is no pressure—Reiki is a beautiful tool that can be used in whatever way feels right for you.

The ability to access Reiki energy is passed from Reiki Master to student through an energetic transmission known as an attunement.

During this process, blockages in the recipient’s physical body and aura are cleared, allowing Reiki energy to flow through the crown chakra. The attunement also opens the hand chakras and energy channels, aligning the student with Reiki’s higher vibrational frequency. Once attuned, they can consciously connect with Reiki energy and direct it for healing.
